One of the Hemimastigophora, a poorly known group of flagellates, in which there are two slightly spiralling rows of flagella extending from the front end of the cell. Surface of body supported by skeletal plates. At one time thought to be Gondwanian ... but this view has lapsed. Phase contrast micrograph.
