Image of Amphidinium Claperède & Lachmann 1859

Description:

This species of Amphidinium (am-fee-din-ee-um) contains a plastid with chlorophylls a and c (the yellow/brown colour indicates this). The plastid has a pyrenoid, the ring like structure in the centre. Epicone, the region anterior to the circumferential groove, is very small compared to many other dinoflagellates. Differential interference contrast.
