Aseroë floriformis
Description:
Aseroë floriformis
This species has only recently been described (2005), though my original image, shown here, is from 1979 from the state of São Paulo. This explains why I had some difficulty finding a name for this organism! Although this isn't a very good image, I'm including it since I haven't been able to find any other photos, at least in Flickr and Google images. This shows a lateral image which leaves the paler-coloured volva at the base of the stipe clearly visible.
This is a completely new locality for this fungus which was previously known only from NE Brazil.
