Downy Arrowwood--flower
Description:
In deciduous forests in the lower Piedmont of North Carolina, this is the most abundant understory shrub, practically forming a monoculture. The flowers are very stinky and attract flies, in addition to various beetles, wasps, and the like.-See Will Cook's account for more on this shrub. Will knows more about woody plants in this area than just about anybody. PCCA20080425-0838A
