Themeda triandra with tubercle-hairs12 (9654444500)
Description:
Description: When travelling down the south coast of NSW, I noticed Kangaroo Grass which had tubercle-based hairs in the flowerhead. This doesn't occur in any samples I've looked at on the north coast of NSW. This patch was growing on a graded roadside on George Bass Drive, 200m south of final roundabout exiting the southern end of Malua Bay. The site had a northwest facing gentle slope and was dominated by this tubercle-haired form of the grass, with little else present up to the edge of the forest (on the other side of the fence). Soil was a gravelly pale clay (probably subsoil). The grass was erect, 70cm tall and pulled up easily. Tubercle-based hairs were abundant. Date: 16 December 2010, 13:41.
