Neoscona nautica - Mindanao, Philippines 1
Description:
Description: English: Neoscona nautica from Mindanao, Philippines. Locally known as "taga-balay" (literally 'house-dweller') because it prefers to live inside human structures. It's an orb-weaver (family Araneidae), but it happily lives along with cellar spiders (family Pholcidae). It's cruelly a favorite 'prey spider' deliberately fed to "damang" (other spiders in the genus Neoscona). Mostly because they are legendary for their 'cowardice' and when faced with another spider species will always run away, not even trying to bite back. Date:. Source: Own work. Author: Obsidian Soul.
