There were lots of honey bees and one fat bumblebee buzzing around this windy morning. Beach sunflowers will grow well in full sun & sterile quartz sand and would probably be a great species to grow in stressed, sandy yards in coastal Florida instead of lawns. The large ray florets (yellow "petals") guide the bee in from a distance so that the tiny disk florets in the center may be pollinated. Two (or several) plants in love! The bee is only the messenger.
