Lammergeier I IMG 7024
Description:
Description: English: Lammergeier Gypaetus barbatus in Kullu District of Himachal Pradesh, India. Finally after many years I had my destiny with this Beautiful & Mysterious birds of the Himalayas. Not because I saw it for the first time but because I got a pics. I always wanted. It is difficult to capture it as it hardly gives you any time. One round & it is nowhere to be seen unlike the majestic Himalayan Griffon. Moustaches, which can be seen here, are its special attraction. As also its stated habit of dropping bones from a height on the rocks to break them, for its favourite delicious 'bone-marrow' inside the bones. It has been seen even at the height of 7500 mtr. during Everest Expeditions. Taken on 9/5/07 on way to Tilla Lotani (12,500 ft.) from Zirmi Thaatch (11000 ft.) on trek to Sar Pass in Himachal. Date: 9.05.07. Source: Own work. Author: J.M.Garg.
