Sharp-tailed Grouse Nest (14512312945)

Description:

Description: The Sharp-tailed grouse (Tympanuchus phasianellus) is a native species. Unlike the introduced Ring-necked pheasant, which can thrive in grasslands, tree rows, and other variable habitats, grouse rely primarily on grasslands. Conversion of grasslands to other uses has been taking a toll on populations of this bird. The Sharp-tailed grouse nests on the ground in a grass-lined bowl. The hen usually lays between 10-14 eggs.
