(Гиднеллум Пека). Cap: 4-10cm wide, slightly convex and bumpy, later often flat or slightly depressed, fine velvety; milky pink or light smoky up to red-brown or pinkish-brown when depressed and old; often with red drops of juice. Tubes are small, several per 1mm, bottom surface looks somewhat velvety (very short spines) or hairy; descending; colour from milky pink up to pink and red or dark brown-red when bruising. Stalk: completely underground, 4-7cm long, cone-shaped as a root, uneven, stiff, dark reddish-brown because covered tiny roots with soil, inter grow decay wood or needles. It looks as a tree root. Habitat: common kind, small or big groups on the ground with pine needles in pine-tree forest with some birches. Edibility: stiff as a wood. Season: July-August.
