Description: March 20th, 2022 5:00PM High of 74 degrees Fahrenheit Low of 37 degrees Fahrenheit 73 degrees Fahrenheit at capture After a week of temperatures in the 70's, and after a cool day of rain, this and numerous other salamanders were observed under rocks adjacent to open dolomite glades. Surprisingly few snakes were found, with all but one being common fossorials. This salamander frantically tried to escape at capture but quickly calmed down after being handled. After pictures it was released in moist leaf litter near the rock under which it was found. Washington County, Missouri. Date: Taken on 20 March 2022, 17:01.
