Rice button aster (Symphyotrichum dumosum) (6435495559)
Description:
Description: Symphyotrichum dumosum. This little Aster was blooming all over Sweetbay Natural Area yesterday. I think it's S. dumosum but S. elliottii grows around here too. The leaves are tiny near the blooms but much larger near the ground. They are growing in moist pine flatwoods. They were formerly classified as Aster dumosus. *Note: objects in the photos appear much larger than they actually are! I'm adding a honeybee for scale (below). Date: 30 November 2011, 09:46.
