Arnica mollis (29179158156)

Image of hairy arnica

Description:

Description: Arnica mollis forms small bunches in dry meadows and on talus slopes in the Teton Range. The generally short stems with fewer than 4 pairs of ovate-lanceolate leaves clustered into few stems per bunch are distinguishing of this species. The involucral bracts and achene are long-hairy and the pappus is comprises conspicuously plumose segements. The Teton populations of this species have slightly dentate leaf margins, especially those towards the base of the stem, and flowering heads that are not particularly plump (e.g., with over 90 disk flowers). These traits suggest these populations could belong to Arnica diversifolia. Date: 19 August 2016, 15:46. Source: Arnica mollis. Author: Matt Lavin from Bozeman, Montana, USA.
