Striped Coral Root (2543627137)

Description:
Description: Scientific Name: Corallorhiza striata Lindl. Common Name: Striped or Hooded Coral Root Certainty: positive Location: Wells Gray Provincial Park, BC Date: 20080530 This lovely little orchid was right in the middle of a horse trail. It does seem to suffered a little: it seems to be missing the lower lip on a number of flowers. It gets its name due to the color of the root. I'll let you guess what that color might be. It is quite striking. Not that I'd recommend digging up every random orchid you stumble upon.. Date: 1 June 2008, 23:02. Source: Striped Coral Root Uploaded by Amada44. Author: Jason Hollinger.
