Description: Cordyline pumilio, Dwarf or Pygmy Cabbage Tree, in cultivation at Auckland Botanic gardens, Auckland, New Zealand. Endemic to New Zealand. A small species that grows in association with Kauri forests north of 38 degrees South, in the North Island of New Zealand. Formerly cultivated by Māori as a food plant for its sugar-rich rhizomes.
