Description:
Description: Probably Sitticus inexpectus (Salticidae) (= S. rupicola). I first noticed the fly repeatedly flying up 10cm then dropping to the ground, then saw the tiny jumper clinging to its head! For 5 minutes a struggle went on, with the spider off the ground for most of it, before the fly weakened. What a meal! From the beach between Faversham & Whitstable, on shingle, 2nd July 2011. Young of this size were abundant, with plenty of adults too - see here for the adult female and here for the adult male. More Info..
