Chamerion latifolium at the base of Mt. Griggs (13542777833)

Description:
Description: The dry and nutrient poor ash covering the Valley hinders vegetative recovery. Strong winds easily carry ash and pumice that abrade plants and grind them down. In much of the Valley, the ash is as barren as it was 100 years ago. NPS photo by M. Fitz. Date: 7 August 2010, 16:59. Source: Dwarf fireweed Chamerion latifolium) at the base of Mt. Griggs.
