Description: Gopher Tortoise (Gopherus polyphemus) at Ponce de Leon Park in Punta Gorda. The tortoise is in captivity at the nearby wilderness center, but occasionally allowed to walk out front in the sun. The red coloring was apparently added by children of the tortoise's former owner.
