Description: Native, warm season, perennial, erect, sedge to 1 m tall and with slender rhizomes. Stems are yellow-green, unbranched, 1-3 mm diameter, soft and have internal horizontal membranes only. Leaves are reduced to basal sheaths. Flowerheads are solitary cylindrical spikes at the stem tips; they are not much wider than the stem itself. Glumes are leathery, many-nerved and lack a dark band around their margins. Flowering is from spring to autumn. Common and widespread in coastal and subcoastal non-saline wetland areas. Generally found in slightly deeper water than Water Couch (Paspalum distichum). A palatable feed, capable of maintaining dry stock or providing moderate production.
