Ironwood Tree - Buds
Description:
Floral buds of Memecylon umbellatum from Melastomataceae. Unfortunately almost all of the plants we saw were filled with buds only. Except for one or two plants with few flowers, we were treated to the pink buds as opposed to the purple flowers. The tree is so common in Matheran, that it is referred to as the Pride of Matheran.
