2008.11.29: Austria, Lower Austria, district Wiener Neustadt Land, 900 m AMSL, mixed forest (broadleaf and coniferous trees), Schneeberg.Flowering typically from february till april (while or after snow is melting) but occasionally already in november or december like this one here: the buds developped while there wasn't snow yet, snow only fell when the buds were about to open.Quite common in the alps.German name: Schneerose (AT), Christrose (DE, CH).ID: Fischer, Exkursionsflora 3rd
