Leptosema chapmanii - PARATYPE plant

Description:
Leptosema chapmanii from the Burra Range (now White Mountains National Park), 25 km west of Pentland, Queensland, Australia. Photographed on 5 May 1973.Small plant with dark red basal flowers. A very rare plant, this is only the second plant seen in a study of the area lasting over six years. On sandstone. Flowers inconspicuous at base of plant. It would appear that this plant flowers irregularly - probably only after fire, and would appear to be pollinated by ants as the flowers sit at ground level.Voucher: A.D.
