Description:
Chattonella (shat-on-ella) is one of the small handful of genera making up the raphidophytes. These are stramenopiles with many small disc shaped chloroplasts that contain chlorophylls a and c, although they often seem top be quite green. This is a palmelloid cell in which the cell is not motile, but surrounded in a mucus sheath. Phase Contrast.
