Heteromita (het-err-o-might-a), one of the smaller gliding flagellates, mostly from soils and freshwater habitats. Flattened, two unthickened flagella inserting into a subapical depression in the cell. Anterior flagellum beats with a flopping motion, posterior flagellum drags behind. A cercomonad.
