Description:
Crithidias are monogenetic trypanosomatids possessing an epimastigote and a choanomastigote forms. One anterior thick flagellum emerges from a flagellar pocket with a kinetoplast at the base of the flagellum, central nucleus. Several species are parasitic of the gut of insects. Crithidia luciliae from calliphorid and muscid flies (Giemsa).
