Description:

Urceolus cristatus Larsen and Patterson, 1990. Cells sack-shaped or broad spindle shaped, 18-28 microns long, 10-15 microns wide, with a prominent longitudinal ridge extending the length of the cell. Pellicle stripes only visible on the expanded part of the collar as adhering detrital material obscured details of the body surface. Flagellum 1.5-2 times the cell length. Ingestion organelle weakly developed, connects to the flagella canal. Nucleus situated laterally.
