Image of Sonoran Spotted Whiptail

Description:
Introduced to approximately 5-square miles of Irvine and Lake Forest, Orange County. Calculations determined by using four locations where this species has been found. A sight record of a whiptail, appearing as Aspidoscelis sonorae at Anaheim was not included, pending conclusive identification. Some biologists suspect this difficult to identify whiptail may actually be Aspidoscelis flagellicauda, a lizard boasting a bluish tinge and inhabiting rather high elevations in its native territory.
