Image of herb Paris
Description:
Slo.: volčja jagoda - Habitat: mixed, predominantly broad-leaved trees wood side, flat terrain, cretaceous clastic rock (flysh) bedrock, quite humid and shady place, exposed to direct rain, average precipitations ~ 3.000 mm/year, average temperature 8-10 deg C, elevation 460 m (1.500 feet), alpine phytogeographical region. - Substratum: soil. - Comment: Growing in groups of many species. Unusual flowers, beauty and deadly poison signify this plant. By careful observation of the pictures one can see that the name quadrifolia doesnt apply consistently. Quite a significant percentage of plants have five leaves instead of four. - Ref.: (1) A.Martinči et all., Mala Flora Slovenije, Tehnična Zaloba Slovenije (2007), p 729.
