The European Pear, Pyrus communis, is a species of pear native to central and eastern Europe and southwest Asia. It is one of the most important fruits of temperate regions, being the species from which most orchard pear cultivars grown in Europe, North America and Australia have been developed. Pepperwood Preserve is a 3,117 acre plot of land owned by the Pepperwood Foundation, located at Coordinates: 38.570119N 122.689451W in the Mayacamas Mountains in the coast ranges of California near the towns of Santa Rosa and Healdsburg in Sonoma County.
