Habit: Perennial herb, cespitose to +- matted, 2--10(12) cm; proximal hairs woolly, +- white. Stem: generally 10--20+; branches 0, basal, or below ground. Leaf: +- basal, persistent, 2.5--5 cm; largest blades ovate to deltate, +- flat, (1)2-pinnately lobed, not fleshy, gland-pitted under hairs; 1 lobes 2--4 pairs, tips +- flat. Inflorescence: heads scapose, discoid, 1(2) per stem; involucre +- cylindric to obconic; longest phyllaries 9--12(14) mm, outer glandular-hairy, tip erect, +- stiff, obtuse. Flower: corolla white to +- pink, 5.5--8 mm, outer radial, +- erect, = inner. Fruit: 5.5--7.5 mm; pappus of 10--16 scales in 3--4 +- equal series, longest 3--5 mm. Chromosomes: 2n=12.
