Description:
Rare. Endemic to 2 bogs on Kauai - Wahiawa is a lowland bog 570-800m; summit bog on Wai'ale'ale 1100-1590m. Previous names include L. kauaensis (Heller), L. gaudichaudii var. kauaiensis (A. Gray). Current name from Lammers, 2007 (J. Bot. Res. Inst. Texas 1(2):789-810). Wahiawa bog is the only intact low elevation bog left in the Hawaiian Islands and is home to several rare plants. Apparently flowers July to March.
