Spots subcircular or more often irregular in form, light yellowish-brown in the center, darker around the outer margin, often giving rise to irregular dead patches about the margin of the leaf; pycnidia few, scattered, minute; spores scant, 2-3.5 X 7-8 ft (often difficult to find in material examined).

Corylus americana Walt., Missouri.
Corylus roslrata Ait., Washington; Ontario. Type locality: Europe, on Corylus A veil ana.
Distribution: Ontario, Missouri, and Washington; also in Europe.
