Maximum longevity: 10.7 years (captivity)
Observations: It has been estimated that these animals live up to 10.7 years in the wild (Bernhard Grzimek 1990), which is doubtful. One wild born specimen was about 10.7 years of age when it died in captivity (Richard Weigl 2005).
