On Potato Dextrose Agar (PDA). Colonies. After 10 days growth varies from 8.5-8.95 cm length, with a mean ñ SD = 8.73 ñ 0.32; aerial mycelium white to pastel violet, with grayish violet pigmentation; mycelium producing hyphal swellings, but not "chlamydospores". Teleomorph. Not known. Notes. This species grows on Glycerol Nitrate Agar (G25N), producing white or pale orange aerial mycelium and yellow pigmentation; growth on mannitol sucrose medium results in white aerial mycelium and pale red pigmentation; growth on Czapek-Dox Iprodione Dichloran Agar (CZID) exceeds 5 cm diam. with white to reddish grey aerial mycelium and grayish magenta pigmentation.
