Rineloricaria maquinensis Reis & Cardoso 2001

Abdomen almost completely naked, except for a single posterior complex of plates consisting of a well-developed preanal plate, usually bordered by 3 polygonal plates. These plates are connected to the thoracic plates by 1 or 2 small squarish platelets facing the base of the pelvic-fin spine. Tip of snout with a globular protuberance of naked skin. Pectoral fins reaching slightly beyond the origin of pelvic fins.

Inhabits small creeks and rivers with shallow, clear water, lurking among the bottom rocks and stones (Ref. 40941).
