They are native to Sudan, Niger, Mali, Ethiopia, Tunisia, Mauritania, Egypt, Algeria, Libya, Chad, and Morocco. They are solitary, diurnal herbivores. Individuals were known to live for 252 months and could grow to 1449.99 mm. Reproduction was viviparous. They rely on running to move around.
