The black turban snail is the most common turban snail in the intertidal zone. And the slipper snail, a filter feeder, commonly finds itself a home at this site.

These snails live and graze on kelp. This individual is climbing a giant kelp stipe. The live animal is red, though it's shell is in shades of brown.
