If a non-watermarked version of the image is available, please upload it under the same file name and then remove this template. Ensure that removed information is present in the image description page and replace this template with {{Metadata from image}} or {{Attribution metadata from licensed image}}. Caution: Before removing a watermark from a copyrighted image, please read the WMF's analysis of the legal ramifications of doing so, as well as Commons' proposed policy regarding watermarks. If the old version is still useful, for example if removing the timestamp damages the image significantly, upload the new version under a different title so that both can be used. Description: Once when I was on a two-week diving trip to the Red Sea, a Eurasian hoopoe landed on one of the masts of the vessel, and stayed with us overnight (for at least 16 hours), and only flew off again once we were within close sight of land. I guess it had tired wings. Despite being extremely common, there is not a lot of research on hoopoes, especially the African hoopoe. Good masters material there, especially if you are interested in using genetics to study populations and evolutionary history. For example, how close are the three species (Eurasian, Madagascan, African), and when did they diverge? What were the possible driving environmental conditions at the time?.
