The stripesnout false moray[2] (Chlopsis apterus) is an eel in the family Chlopsidae.[3] It was described by William Beebe and John Tee-Van in 1938, originally under the genus Arenichthys.[4] It is a tropical, marine eel which is known from the eastern Pacific Ocean. It generally dwells at a depth around 82 m.[3]

Chlopsis apterus is een straalvinnige vissensoort uit de familie van valse murenen (Chlopsidae).[2] De wetenschappelijke naam van de soort is voor het eerst geldig gepubliceerd in 1938 door Beebe & Tee-Van.
De soort staat op de Rode Lijst van de IUCN als niet bedreigd, beoordelingsjaar 2007.[1]
