體極長,圓柱形。體長為體高之39.8倍,頭長之9.2倍;尾長為頭與軀幹之0.6倍;頭長為吻長之9.8倍;吻長為眼徑之2.9倍;胸鰭為吻長之2.2倍。吻鈍、短。下頜稍長;口裂約至眼之後緣;齒圓錐狀,上、下頜骨齒及鋤骨齒均為一列。舌固定。背鰭起點在肛門上方之後,臀鰭之上方稍後;臀鰭在肛門之稍後;尾端側扁; 肛門在體之3/5處。福馬林標本,上側土黃色,下側淡黃色。

Moringua macrocephalus is an eel in the family Moringuidae (spaghetti/worm eels).[2] It was described by Pieter Bleeker in 1863, originally under the genus Aphthalmichthys.[3] It is a subtropical, freshwater eel which is known from rivers in the east and south China Sea. It typically dwells in river mouths and mud flats. Males can reach a maximum standard length of 36.5 centimetres.[2]
