Bownband Perchlet

Description: Size up to 4.0 cm SL. Closely resembles P. longimanus but has more pectoral fin rays and pored lateral line scales (Ref. 37816). Characterized by having 4-17 coarse serrae at upper margin of preopercle; greatest depth of body 2.9-3.6 in SL; rounded caudal fin (Ref. 90102).

A secretive species that inhabits coral or rubble habitats of deep channels and exposed reefs (Ref. 1602, 58302). Benthic (Ref. 58302). Solitary in crevices (Ref 90102).

分布於印度-太平洋區，西起紅海，東至萊恩及皮特康群島。台灣南部及綠島海域均有。

小型花鱸，不具經濟性之魚種。偶以一支釣等捕獲。不具食用價值。

體長橢圓形，側扁，標準體長為體高之3.0倍。頭背部斜直；眶間區略為凸起。眼稍大，長於或等於吻長。口大；上下頜前端具小犬齒。鰓耙數5-6+9-12，隨成長而漸退化。前鰓蓋骨下緣具二枚前向棘。體被細小櫛鱗，主上頜骨及頤部無鱗；側線不完整，僅及背鰭軟條部，側線鱗孔數16-22，側線上鱗列數2。背鰭鰭棘部與軟條部相連，具缺刻，具硬棘X，軟條13-15，第V-VII棘最長；臀鰭硬棘III枚，軟條6-7；腹鰭腹位，末端延伸不及肛門開口；胸鰭延長，中央之鰭條長於上下方之鰭條，鰭條14-16，鰭條不分支；尾鰭近截形或圓。體淡色或白色，體側具許多不規則之褐色橫班；背及臀鰭軟條部後緣各有一小黑點，尾柄後緣上下一各有一小黑點，尾鰭基部另具一條暗色細橫帶。

主要棲息於較淺水域的岩礁區、水道或外礁。底棲性。內食性，以小型魚類及甲殼類為食。
