Description: Dorsal red, ventral pinkish white; fins red; caudal peduncle spot pale (Ref. 6177). Intensity or shade of red could change quickly. Dorsal scale rows oblique extending to caudal peduncle horizontally (Ref. 90102).

Often form schools (Ref. 90102). Inhabit reefs and rocky bottoms. They feed on benthic and planktonic invertebrates and possibly small fishes. Marketed fresh or dried-salted.
