El peix emperador veler (Symphorichthys spilurus) és una espècie de peix de la família dels lutjànids i de l'ordre dels perciformes.

Morfologia

Els mascles poden assolir 60 cm de longitud total.^[4]^[5]

Alimentació

Menja peixos, crustacis i mol·luscs.^[4]

Hàbitat

És un peix marí de clima tropical i associat als esculls de corall que viu entre 5-60 m de fondària.^[4]

Distribució geogràfica

Es troba des de les Illes Ryukyu^[6] fins a Nova Caledònia, la Gran Barrera de Corall, Nova Guinea,^[7]^[8] Sulawesi,^[9] les Illes de l'Almirallat, Palau, les Filipines i Tonga.^[10] També és present a Austràlia Occidental.^[11]^[12]^[4]^[13]^[14]^[15]
