provided by North American Butterfly Knowledge Network
Callophrys xami is mostly migratory in southern parts of North America, it is resident in extremely southern parts of Arizona and Texas down to Chiappas, Mexico (Scott 1986). Habitats are subtropical and lower Sonoran zone canyons (including urban gardens in Mexico City). Host plants include several succulent species restricted to family Crassulaceae. Eggs are laid on the host plant singly. Individuals overwinter as pupae. There are multiple flights between Mar1-Dec31 each year (Scott 1986).
