Plants 4–40 cm; stems, leaves, and phyllaries densely villous to glabrate, eglandular (at least some hairs always perceptible on distal stems and on proximal portions of phyllaries). Leaf blades oblanceolate. Phyllaries 1-nerved, herbaceous or slightly tawny-indurate proximally; outer 0.8–1.2 mm wide proximally.
