Anoplodactylus pycnosoma.—Stock, 1954:75–77, fig. 33 [literature, synonymy].

MATERIAL EXAMINED.—One male, Cockburn Sound, Jervois Bay, 1.6 miles SE of Woodman Point, from algae on groin in 1 meter, coll. B. E. Wilson, 10 June 1968.

One female juvenile, Cape Naturaliste, Sugarloaf Rock, washings of intertidal algae, coll. J. L. Barnard, 1 September 1968, JLB 4.

One male with eggs, Cape Naturaliste, W of Bunker Bay, washings of intertidal algae and sponges, coll. J. L. Barnard, 2 September 1968, JLB 6.

MATERIAL EXAMINED.—HONSHU: Sagami Bay, Shirahama, Izu Peninsula, spring 1984 (2 with eggs, 3, 1); autumn 1984 (1). Off Misaki, 110–122 m, 10 Jul 1985 (1). Wakayama Prefecture, Goboh, 1.5 m, Feb 1981 (1 with eggs, 1); 5 m, (1juv).

DISTRIBUTION.—This species has been taken from the western Indian Ocean to Japan and in several scattered places between these localities in shallow and littoral depths.

DISTRIBUTION.—This is another species with a very narrow known distribution: from several places just off the Izu Peninsula in 30–40 meters. It probably is an east coast Japanese endemic.
