There are over 25 species of peony. Most of these flowering plants look like herbs or shrubs. Some are more tree-like and can grow up to 10 feet tall. Peonies have large, complex flowers of various shapes. The Chinese tree peony is known as “the flower of riches and honor” in Chinese. It is often found in Chinese art.
