Pileus fleshy, compact, hemispheric, then broadly convex, obtuse or subumbonate, 5-10 cm. broad; surface viscid, glabrous and shining when dry, buff-colored; context white, the taste mild; lamellae moderately close, paleviolaceous at first, cinnamon when mature, 4-6 mm. broad; stipe thick above, clavate-bulbous and tapering upward, 5-8 cm. long, 10-15 mm. thick at apex, firm, solid, silky-fibrillose, white; spores subglobose, 8-10 X 7-9 /*.
Type locality: Constableville, New York. Habitat: Among fallen leaves, in woods. Distribution: Known only from the type locality.
