Pileus at first convex, firm, subcoriaceous when dry, 5-7.5 cm. broad, with the habit of Gymnopus camosus; surface smooth, pale-brownish-yellow, margin inflexed; lamellae adnexed, much crowded, narrow, white to argillaceous; spores copious, pale-argillaceous, ellipsoid, subcymbiform, rather minute; stipe cartilaginous, radicate, attenuate below, white, hollow, 10 cm. long, 7 mm. thick.
Typs locality: South Carolina. Habitat: On the ground in woods. Distribution: North Carolina and South Carolina.
