Another trip to undisclosed woodland last night, did not yield a great deal. On arrival and after a cloudy day....the sky inevitablycleared and at half past midnight the moths had stopped altogether and the temperature had dropped to 7 degrees with a bright moon! 25/06/13 - 1x 125w MV Robinson, 1x 160w MBT Trap and 1x 80w Actinic Trap - 9.45pm til 1.00amMacro Moths1x Angle Shades1x Brimstone Moth2x Brown Rustic2x Buff Ermine1x Clouded Border1x Clouded Silver3x Common Carpet1x Common Marbled Carpet5x Common Swift1x Common Wave3x Common White Wave1x Fern10x Green Carpet2x Ingrailed Clay3x Light Emerald1x Lime Hawk-moth1x Maple Prominent1x Marbled Minor5x Pale Oak Beauty1x Pale Tussock1x Privet Hawk-moth1x Rivulet1x Scorched Wing2x Setaceous Hebrew Character10x Silver-ground CarpetMicro Moths3x Celypha lacunana1x Tinea semifulvella1x Nematopogon swammerdamella4x Hedya pruniana2x Udea olivalis2x Epiblema cynosbatella1x Eurrhypara hortulata1x Triaxomera parasitella

From my trip to Thailand - May 28th - 4th June 2011, most moths were found at the various temples which had metal hallide bulbs fitted to them. The ones labelled 'Hang Dong' came to my 22w Actinic light. Please feel free to help aid identification or correct my proposed identifications.

This moth at a lighted sheet appears to match images of
Acrolophus popeanella - Clemens' Grass Tubeworm Moth, and the pattern of this species is supposed to be fairly consistent, according to expert commentary on BugGuide. I see this one pretty frequently at my porch light. Length about 15 mm, wingspan about 30 mm.

Gunpowder Falls State Park Hereford, MarylandBagworms as larva (caterpillars), conceal themselves and feed from a silk case covered with organic material (sticks and leaves). Females never leave this casing. After pupating, males leave the encasement and in the process scrape most of their wing scales off. Males seek out females to mate. The female lays her eggs in her bag. Eggs overwinter and start the process over again.
